On the 20th of January 1982 Sharonda Michelle Russell-Goins arrived as a bundle of joy to Carolyn Jean Russell. Born with Sickle Cell Anemia, doctors gave her 6 months to live, but God had another plan for her life and she beat the odds of the professionals. Although this disease was a constant battle, Sharonda was a fighter determined to live a normal and healthy life.
Sharonda grew up in the Saxapahaw and Graham Community, playing school & recreational softball. She was a graduating member of the class of 2000 from Graham High School. She continued her education at NC A&T State University by receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2004 and Criminal Justice in 2011.
In November 2011 Sharonda was united in marriage to her soulmate. A man sent by God Dontae Goins. Sharonda was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to all that knew her. More importantly, she made a point to let her children know they were loved and taught to know “Anything was possible, if they just try”.
Sharonda passed unexpectedly Friday, August 4th, 2017 in Delaware, Ohio. A lifetime resident of Alamance County, she leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Dontae Goins, and their three Children, Qwameek Summers, Ge’Kayla Goins and Xean Goins, all of the home. Also surviving Sharonda is her mother, Carolyn Russell of Burlington; One brother Kenneth (Kelita) Russell of Graham; Nieces Keeyatta & Brianna; Nephews Terrell & Zymir; and maternal Grandmother Gladys Russell of Graham.
