Yolanda Kumye (Gray) Nunez

October 4, 1955 ~ July 9, 2022 (age 66)

My  obituary and Homegoing Celebration by Yolanda Kumye Gray Nunez.

I’ve only been an angel waiting on earth to go to heaven.  I’ve seen a touch of heaven so beautiful it is.  To my church family and all others: This is my last story, I’ve gone to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and my Robert who waits for me.  Yolanda aka “Q” was born in Plainfield New Jersey on Oct. 4, 1955, to Irving and Mary Gray.  Prior to retiring in 2006 due to disability, she spent 23 years as a medical chemist in the pharmaceutical industry (J&J, UNC Venable Hall and Glaxo Inc.).  She also had her own business “Q’s” Bake Shoppe Specialties that was established in 1993 and she worked for Walmart supercenters as a cake decorator for 7 years.  She attended Rock Creek A.M.E. church in Snow Camp, NC serving faithfully since October of 2001.  She was a member of the Alston-Patterson Missionary society, served as a Dorcas Queen 2005-2006 term, served as a trustee and steward.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ruperto Nunez (2004).

She is survived by her one and only son Kieran Rupert Nunez, Sr. (Elena), two grandchildren, Kieran Nunez Jr. and Melanie Nunez; her mother, Mary Gray, three sisters, Felecia Griffin, Toya Wolfe (Harold), Irvina More (Herbert); one brother, Pastor Irving Gray III (Hope), many nieces, nephews, other relatives, Nunez family and friends.

Three things in life you should never loose…Hope, Peace, and Honesty.  Three things in life that are most valuable…Love, Family/Friends and Kindness; three things that are truly constant…Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  I ask the Lord to bless you, as I prayed for you today, to guide you and protect you as you go along your way.  God’s Love is always with you, God’s promises are true, and when you give God all your cares, you know he will see you through.
