Mrs. Wilma Shaw Degraffenried age 86 of 1411 N. Park Ave. Burlington transitioned on February 1, 2020 at her residence. She was the daughter of Mr. Henry D. Shaw and Mrs. Nannie Beatrice Vaughn Shaw. She was the wife to the late Mr. Edward "Graff" Degraffenried. Wilma was a 1953 graduate of Graham Negro High School and she also attended A&T State University. She was employed with the Alamance County School System for over 26 years.
She worked in different capacities as a purchasing clerk and secretary within the schools and Central Office. For many years Mrs. Wilma served the community as a vital part of the staff at Sharpe Funeral Home, Inc. along side of her friend the late Ms. Mary Frances Sharpe Murray. Wilma was a member of Union Chapel UCC where in the past she served in various positions, as Pianist, Treasurer, Trustee and Secretary.
Her life and legacy will be forever cherished by her son, Donnell Morrow and his wife Carmen, one grandson, Quinton Morrow, siblings, Henry Howard Shaw, William Amos Shaw, Georgia Robinson and Wyona Shaw; stepsons, Edward Degraffenried Jr. (Sandra), Maurice Degraffenried, Gregory Degraffenried and Phillip Degraffenried.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and the following siblings, Bennie Harold Shaw, Horace Leon Shaw, Coy Gilmer Shaw and Floyd Vaughn Shaw.
