Willie Lee Gant, Jr. was born May 18, 1930 to Irene Alston Gant Foust and Willie Lee Gant, Sr. in Burlington, North Carolina. He went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 15, 2020 while he was being cared for by the staff of the Village at Brookwood.
He was a Western Union Bicycle Messenger and later he became a Tile Setter with Anderson Wells. He was employed with Anderson Wells until an untimely car accident. Following his recovery he began shining shoes and was known as the "Shoe Shine Man". In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting cans.
He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. Willie Lee as he was known, was a member of several Gospel Quartet Groups, some of which included: The Gospel Revelators, St. Luke Christian Chorus, The Gospel Noels, The Harmonizing Five and The Gospel Servants. His high tenor voice couldn't be matched or mistaken.
Willie Lee leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: two nieces: Irene Gant Torain (Gary) of Burlington, NC and Cheynne Gant Chavis (Tim) of Green Level, NC; three nephews: Clifton Cates "Ricky" and Victor Gant both of Burlington and Harper Gant, Jr. of Graham, NC; a host of great nieces & great nephews, great-great nieces & nephews; a host of cousins and dear friends.
He now joins his parents and his brother Harper Gant, Sr.
