Willie Worn Burton

Mr. Willie Worn Burton 84, of Burlington, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2023, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Willie was born to Bernard Burton and Ammie Bradsher Burton on October 7, 1939, in Person, County.

Willie met and wed his forever love Gloria Jean Carter and from this union, two daughters were born. Willie was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board for twenty-two years. He worked at Burlington Industries as a supervisor for thirty-eight years until his retirement. His love for his family and community led him to get involved with community service and development. He was at one time a member of the Green Level Town Council. He was raised to the degree of Master Mason as a member of Allen's Lodge #676 and served his lodge as a Past Master. Spending time with his family was one of his greatest joys. He was formally the family Historian. He loved watching Duke University’s basketball games on television.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gloria Jean Carter Burton of the home; daughters, Dawn Burton, and Sharon Burton (Barry) all of Graham; one grandson, Joshua Burton of Greensboro; brother, James Kenneth Burton (Veamarea) of Graham; sisters, Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rainey of Hillsborough, and Betsy Burton of Burlington along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Aimee Burton, and brothers Burnice Burton and Luis T. Burton.
