The Reverend Jerry Thomas Rudd

Reverend Jerry Thomas Rudd 73, transitioned peacefully at Cone Health Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC. He was born to James Marvin Rudd Sr. and Bessie Fuller Rudd on May 17, 1949, in Alamance County.

Rev. Rudd began his education in the Alamance County School System and was a member of the 1967 graduating class of Central High School in Graham, NC. He enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve his country. Once his tour was complete, he received an honorable discharge. He continued his education after receiving his bachelor’s degree and attended Shaw University’s Divinity School where he received his master’s degree. He was a dedicated member of Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church in Sutherlin, VA.

He worked for LeeSona Corporation in Burlington, NC for over thirty-five years as an Engineering Technician.

Rev. Rudd is survived by his wife Sharon Rudd, daughters, Tracie Rudd, Trina Rudd, Tasha Francis (Reginald); brother, Deacon Ronald Rudd (Barbara); sister Joyce Springfield (Leon); grandchildren, Ashia Rudd, Markee Shavers III, Maurice Shavers, Nazareth Francis, Lazarus Francis, Miya Watlington; great granddaughter Ke’hlani Marsh; bonus children, Felecia Pritchett (Kevin), Ivory J Martin Jr., Ebonee R. Martin, I’Vonna M. Martin; step sisters, Robin Adams Cheeley (Malcom), Gladys Adams, Cora Adams Strickland (Deacon James), Latta Adams; bonus grandchildren, Portia Pritchett McDougal (Dominic), Amari Gunn, Austin Gunn bonus great grandchildren, Aniya Pritchett, Aiden Pritchett, Lennox McDougal along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rev. Rudd was preceded in death by his parents James and Bessie Rudd; stepmother, Shirley Jean Adams Rudd; son, Aaron Rudd; brothers, Donald Rudd, James M. Rudd Jr.; and one stepbrother, Tyrone Adams.
