Ruth Jane (Woods) Thaxton

Ruth Jane Woods Thaxton was born to the Reverend Spencer E. Woods and Mrs. Georgianna Currie Woods on November 23, 1923 in Caswell, County, North Carolina.  She was married to Joseph Thaxton and this union was blessed with five children.  She was a life-long member of Allen's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Mother of the Church, over 30 years with the Pastor's Aide, charter member of the Senior Choir, and Missionaries.  She was a charter member and past Worthy Matron of Allen's Order of the Eastern Star #529 Prince Hall Affiliate.  She was a Private Duty Nurse for for more than 40 years, even working into her Mid-90's.  

She leaves loving memories to her daughter: Geraldine C. Stark; daughter-in-law: V. Louise S. Thaxton; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three siblings; Ida Mae Woods Pulliam, Rev. Philip J. Woods (Claudia B. Woods) and Larry B. Currie as well as many dear nieces & nephews, cousins and dear friends. 

In addition to her beloved Joe and Dad and Ma, she was preceded in death by four children: Wilma T. Kelly, Myrtlene Thaxton, Carrie V. Adams, and Alvester Leonza Thaxton.
