Rodney Eric Smith was born to external life on December 14, 2021 quietly in his home, in the presence of the Lord. He was born on October 12, 1967, the youngest child of Enoch Nathaniel Smith, and Edith Mae Burton Smith.
Rodney was a member of Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church. During his relaxing times he enjoyed going fishing with his brother, testing his skills in the kitchen or on the grill, and spending time with his loved ones. He was employed by Starvos Grill located in downtown Burlington. There you could catch him smiling and waving as you entered the door. Rodney then found new employment opportunities at Carolina Chem Strip located in Glen Raven where he worked part time and enjoyed every minute of it. While these were his last moments here on earth, he didn’t leave without one last good deed. Rodney gave in death as he gave in life; he was an organ and tissue donor. Rodney's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation, and he did just that with the help of HonorBridge Miracles in Sight.
Rodney will forever be remembered by his loving son, Rodney Wade; his beloved daughter, Brittany Smith; his devoted brothers, Walter Lee Smith (Lisa), Michael Smith (Lucille), Jerry Smith; his loving sisters, Edith Paulette Alston, Joanne Fuller, Deborah Smith; his treasured grandchildren, Janiya Adams, Jakayla Wade, Jalasha Wade, Yamarie Wade, Yamir Wade along with numerous other family and friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Enoch Nathaniel Smith and Edith Mae Burton Smith, brother Clyde Smith, and a brother-in-law Robert Alston.
Rodney touched the lives of many others with his great big smile, generosity, and his jolly sense of humor.
