Rita Diane (Burnette) Mitchell

Ms. Rita Diane Burnette Mitchell age 69 of 514 Sellars St., transitioned on July 7, 2020 at the Hospice Home of Alamance.

Rita was the third child of five born to Mr. Mitchell Robert Burnette and Mrs. Christine Deloris Enoch Burnette.  Rita graduated from Central High School in Graham, NC in 1968 and was an ACC graduate also.  She was a member of Martins Chapel Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary, a member of the choir and Sunday School.

Rita’s favorite past times where fishing, cooking, arts and crafts, family outings and Saturday mornings at the Buck Horn flea market.

To Rita the meaning of life was.. “live your life in the fullness, don’t take nothing for granted, be grateful, love and respect others”.

Her life and now legacy will be forever cherished in the hearts of her grandson, Emmanuel Lawson, siblings, Deborah Pleasant, Michael Burnette, Carolyn Guye and Steve Burnette (Stacy), God-daughter, Doris Daye, and special friend, Frankie Watlington with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her son, Cedric Justin Mitchel and her parents.

  At other times the family will be at 3246 Gilliam Ch. Rd. Elon at the home of her sister, Carolyn.
