Ms. Pamela Reneé Poteat Foust Tinnin, 72, passed away quietly on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, North Carolina. She was born on April 3, 1950, to Rufus Allen Poteat and Nancy Carver Poteat in Alamance County.
Pamela, affectionately known as Pam or Reneé, was employed for many years with Lucent Technologies (formerly Western Electric and AT&T). She was also a licensed Cosmetologist and worked in a few beauty salons in Alamance County, and she was a member of a local beautician’s club. Following her tenure with Lucent Technologies and cosmetology, Pam worked with children as a substitute teacher in the Alamance-Burlington School System and as an assistant teacher with Bynum Education Center until her health declined. She was a member of First Baptist Church on Apple Street in Burlington, North Carolina, where she also attended until her health declined.
Those who knew Pam well knew she didn’t mince words. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She loved people, cooking, music, dancing, and playing bid whist. Pam enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who held a special place in her heart.
Pamela is survived by her daughters, whom she cherished: Desiree Foust Torain (Vernon) of Gibsonville, North Carolina; and Deirdre Foust Lea (Cedric) of Burlington, North Carolina; sisters: DeLacy Torain (William) of Burlington, North Carolina; and Gloria Love (William Terrell) of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren: Brittany Foust, Brock Parker (Jessica), Khalil Lea, and Kendall Lea; great-grandchildren: Kamari Harris, Braylon Parker, Jace Parker, Kaedyn Miles, Raelyn Miles, and Skylar Rose Lea; aunts: Annie Catherine Poteat and Vera Crisp; nephews: Samuel Parker, Jr. (Onie) and Lacy Parker (Rose); nieces: Cassandra Harper (Randall) and Valerie Parker-Jiles (Charles), in addition to a host of nephews and nieces in the Foust family, and many cousins and friends. Pamela also leaves these special friends to cherish her memories: Vera Breeze, Sheila Foust, Lou Verta Holman, Barbara Jean Mapp, Audrey McCain, Tonsie Pride, Yvonne Villines, and Peggy Vincent; and neighbors Miss Shirley and Miss Phyllis.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Nancy Poteat.
