Our beloved Nancy Moore was born on April 29th 1953 to Mr. Hoyt Boone Sr. and Mrs. Mattie Coble Boone in Alamance County. She transitioned peacefully on April 27th 2023 at her home.
Nancy graduated from Walter Williams High school in 1971. She was a dedicated employee at White Oak Manor nursing home for 38 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary. Nancy was a mentor to many at White Oak Manor and was adored and respected by everyone fortunate enough to be trained by her and work with her. At an early age she joined Ebenezer United Church of Christ and she was a faithful member of the Missionary Circle #2 and the Healthcare Assistance Ministry. Nancy loved her church family and especially her pastor, Dr. Larry E. Covington. After her health declined Nancy tuned into YouTube faithfully to virtually share in fellowship with her church family.
Nancy was an excellent cook and baker, reviewing cookbooks, revising recipes, and acted as the 'caterer' for gatherings with her immediate family. After retirement, Nancy enjoyed watching her CBS daytime dramas and all who knew her abided by her rule 'no phone calls between 12:30pm-2pm on weekdays'. Deeply loved by all who knew and met her, she never met a stranger and her lovely smile always brightened up any room and everyone's hearts. Nancy loved her friends and family and spoke to her family daily by phone, especially her daughter, sister and sister-in-law. Nancy also enjoyed spending time with her daughter's precious dog, Bentley aka "Grandma's Boy." When Nancy's health declined, she invited her dear childhood and life-long friend Ms. Angela Murdock to become her roommate and the two were fortunately able to spend many years together laughing and remembering old times. Nancy lived her life being of service to others and has changed many lives for the better as a result of her giving nature and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her life partner Mr. James "Calvin" Gant and from that union they were blessed with one child.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Ms. Amy Gant, siblings Mr. Hoyt Boone Jr. (Emma), Ms. Donna M. Boone, and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, family and friends. Nancy held in highest regards, Debra Boone, Jeff Boone, April Boone-Greenfield, Erik Greenfield, Terell Johnson, and Mya Johnson who resided locally and provided their 'Aunt Nancy' with immeasurable care and support as her health declined in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings; James Ronald Boone (Kay), Marshall Edward Boone, David Michael Boone, Eleanor "Jo" Carter (David), and Alice Faye Lemon.
