February 4, 1927 ~ December 29, 2023 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Mr. Shirley Miles was born February 4, 1927, in Caswell County, NC to the late Robert “Bud” Miles and Nannie Graves Miles. He peacefully departed this life on December 29, 2023, at AuthoraCare Hospice of Alamance-Burlington, Burlington, NC.
He was a faithful and supportive member of Stoney Creek AME Church for as long as his health permitted. He served many years as an Usher, Class Leader, Trustee and Building Committee member. He received his education in Caswell County. He helped his father with the farm until he enlisted into the US Army and served in World War II. He was a hard worker, and his work history includes textile, Miller and Stroh’s Breweries and a bus monitor for disabled children in the Guilford County School System.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Jeanette Graves Miles, his son Herman Lee Miles, brothers Bennie, David, Charles, JB, Hurley, Clyde and Arthur H. Miles. Sisters: Myrtle and Fannie Miles, Ida Mae Sellars and Sallie Love. Granddaughter: Shayla Miles.
He leaves to cherish his memory Janie Miles, Rochelle Yellock, Annette Jeffers (Robert), daughter-in-law Marva K. Miles all of Burlington, NC., seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Disabled Veterans of America and AuthoraCare Hospice Home of Burlington.
