Mr. Monroe Graves age 83 of 2907 Amick Rd. Elon was born on June 22, 1938 in Caswell County, NC to Mr. Tommy Lee Graves and Mrs. Rachel Bigelow Graves. He transitioned from labor to reward on December 30, 2021 while at The Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington.
Mr. Graves was a retiree of Glen Raven Mills and a life-long farmer. He served his Lord and Savior as a Deacon at Elon First Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing in the male chorus and witnessing about the goodness and mercy of Jesus Christ. Deacon Graves loved a good game of softball, which lead him to start the “Graves Allstars Softball Team” which later was renamed as the “Orange Crush”, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, spending time with his family and a hard but productive day of working in the garden.
His life will be forever cherished by the love of his life, his loving wife, Mrs. Adell Sellars Graves; five daughters, Barbara Jeffries (Roy), Elsie Cathey (Michael), Sarah Clinkscales, Lilly Lea (Reggie) and Linda Clinkscales; one son, Coy Graves (Veatrice); 7 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Rachel Graves, one son, Maurice Graves; two grandchildren and all of his siblings.
