On Sunday morning while many were in Sunday Worship service or virtually watching service and worshiping the Lord of Lord and King of Kings, I had the special opportunity to have our Lord and Savior come to my bedside while I was surrounded by my loving family he escorted me to my final resting place of peace joy and love. I, Mary Theolia Rogers Russell was born March 15, 1948 in Alamance a County to my loving parents James Rogers Sr. and Lottie Burnette Rogers. I was the second born of three children. We were raised in a Christian home and we enjoyed the love and fellowship that we all share together. I was educated in the Alamance County school system and I was a proud graduate of Jordan Sellars High School with the class of 1967.
Following high school I was married and to this union, we were blessed with a daughter Kesia. Oh how proud and humbled I was to be her mother and to raise her in the way that she should go. For many years I worked with Burlington Industries in the textile manufacturing industry. It was here that I supported my family and was able to afford some things for myself as well. For my entire life I was a member of Martins Chapel Baptist Church. I loved to sing in the choir just like my mom Lottie. If any of you knew me, you knew that I love to bake and to cook and above all I love spending time with my daughter and my grandchildren and other extended family members. Now life goes without no loss and I have experience loss in my life I lost my mother Lottie, my dad James and I even tragically lost my grandson Devante Mims; but even through it all, God sustained me and held me close in His arms and provided me with the strength to carry-on each and every day.
As I stepped out of Time into eternity on Sunday morning I had to leave a few things behind; but I left those things with undying love. To my daughter Kesia L. Johnson and her husband Chris I thank you for each and every moment that we shared together. Thank you all for providing me with two additional wonderful grandchildren: Trevon Mims and Kymani Johnson they were truly a blessing. I was blessed to the point of overflow with the addition of my five great-grandchildren: Winter, Melanie, Mariah Kaiden and Lil Devante. I thank God for my brothers James Rogers, Jr. (Kathy) and Gregory Rogers (Grace). I also thank God for having cousins who were more like sisters Rosa Leath, Debra Jacobs and Mae McDuffy; and I was even blessed to have a little cousin who was like a daughter: Shemel Mercer and a special niece: Michelle Rogers and all my other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who were close to my heart.
Now that you have heard of my homegoing, you don't have to worry about me. Im just another solider gone on home.
