Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Corbett was born to Preston Chaplin and Martha Waddy Chaplin on October 6, 1932 in Chester, South Carolina. She was educated in the Alamance County School System and was employed with 1st Union Bank (Wells-Fargo). Her vibrant career began as a janitorial engineer with the bank and eventually rose to the ranks of Courier. Mary Elizabeth was the devoted and loving wife of Benjamin Franklin Corbett, better known as "Ben" and this union was blessed with two doting children, Donna and Ronald.
Mother Mary Elizabeth Corbett was a faithful and dedicated member of Kimes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. We all hold with fondness the warmth and cherished memories of Christmas. The decorations, the vibrant colors and vivid statues all give us the knowledge and love of Christmas. Mary Elizabeth was known as the "Christmas Queen of Mebane". She shared her home with countless visitors who were in awe of her beautifully decorated home. She was a lover of fashion, baking cakes, flowers, decorating and being the consummate hostess.
In her own fashion and in her own unique way, Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Corbett, our Matriarch, Queen and dear friend, exchanged time for eternity on June 21, 2020, spending this father's day with her Father in Heaven her Daddy and dear and loving husband Ben.
