Margie Scott Obituary

Mrs. Margie Moore Scott was born on December 31, 1931 and took her amazing flight to glory on September 29, 2020.

Margie was the seventh of ten children born to her late parents James Henry and Lucille Daye Moore of Burlington, NC.

Margie loved to read and as a young child preferred studying and reading over playing with her family or doing her chores.  She loved school and when she graduated from Jordan Sellers High School, she decided to continue her education at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC.  From there she went on to earn her Masters Degree at Columbia University in New York City, NY.  Her dreams were to become a doctor and to travel the world.

Even though Margie was raised in Burlington, NC, her dreams carried her to bigger and better things when she followed a few of her siblings to Norwalk, CT where she met the love of her life, James Scott of Camden, Alabama, whom she married and shared over fifty-five years together until James’ passing on August 10, 2015.  Her husband’s death was very difficult for Margie but she was able to stay with her nephew Gilbert Moore, who was like a brother, until his passing.

Margie and James shared a wonderful life together in Norwalk, CT for over thirty years.  Once they retired, they decided to move down south to Liberty, NC where they settled on a beautiful piece of property and met many wonderful people, especially through their church, Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Liberty.

Margie’s dream to become a doctor was not fulfilled due to the times at hand.  But she did travel to Canada, Nassau Bahamas, Hawaii, China, Japan; and her last big trip was to Australia.  The Lord blessed Margie abundantly not only with the opportunity to travel but with the experience of becoming a mother to two amazing daughters, Sybil Moore Robinson and Rosalia D. Scott who loved her deeply.

Margie was preceded in death by eight of her siblings, Elizabeth Moore Baldwin, Magdalene Moore, Ruth Evelyn Moore Ford, Elder Irvin Moore Sr., Blanche W. Coleman, Iola McBroom, Lottie B. Moore and Ophelia Vaughn.

Besides her two daughters, Sybil M. Robinson and Rosalia D. Scott of Fayetteville, NC, Margie is survived by one brother, Wesley Moore of Stratford, CT, two grandchildren, Donel Alexander Robinson (Teaonna) of Raleigh, NC and Chandra Lee Robinson of Fayetteville, NC, one great granddaughter Angelina Totionna Robinson, one sister-in-law Delores Scott of Norwalk CT, and one brother-in-law Love Lee Scott of Tacoma, WA, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
