Lillie Mae Tinnin was born June 22, 1932 in Burlington, NC. She departed this life October 5, 2023 at Ashton Health and Rehabilitation in McCleansville, N.C.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur Isaiah Tinnin and Lucille Morrow Tinnin.
She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. There she sang on the Senior Choir along side many of her brothers and sisters. She also served as an usher.
She was employee at Sonoco Product Company where she retired after 26 years; and was an excellent employee of the company. The one thing she enjoyed most was visiting her children. The next best thing was shopping. Her favorite shopping partner and road dog was her sister, Peggy. There were times when they would shop from sun up to sun down. The gift of shopping was unfortunately passed down to her daughter. She also liked cooking and baking. Her cakes, pies and homemade biscuits were delicious.
You never had to wonder about what she was thinking because she pretty much said what she meant and meant what she said. However if you ever got a chance to know her, she was a delight to be around.
Lillie leaves to cherish her three children; son, Bobby Tinnin of Charlotte, N.C. daughter, Joan Tinnin Matkins (Larry) of Matthews, N.C. , and Michael Lynn Tinnin of Plainfield, New Jersey. Sisters: Peggy Faucette (Hulon), Geneva Pennington, Barbara Stone and Margaret Vincent all of Burlington, N.C. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Willie Mae Tinnin, Katherine Crumpton, Elizabeth Enoch, Arthur Tinnin, Jr, Odell Tinnin, Othrell Tinnin, Lacy Tinnin and Willie Tom Tinnin. Grandchildren: Velicia Moore(Joseph), Larry Keith Matkins, Gerald Lamont Matkins (Lacreshia), Danniellie T. Appiah (Christopher), and Michaeux Tinnin. Twenty three great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of relatives and friends.
