Kermit Lee Brown, Jr.

Kermit Lee Brown, Jr., was born on February 23, 1968 in Durham County, North Carolina to Kermit Lee Brown, Sr. and Flora Madeline Alston Brown.  He was a lifelong native of Durham, where he attended Jordan High School and later attended Job Corps of America. 

For 40 years, “Straight Drop” as he was known by many, was a Professional Concrete Finisher under the business moniker, “Straight Drop Concrete”. He was very talented and skilled with his trade.  His work can be seen as a lasting monument to his life at various locations around the state of North Carolina and abroad. He was a member of Obedience To the Word Full Gospel under the leadership of Apostle James Willie, III.

Kermit, was the life of the party, hands down.  Whether he was dancing or singing karaoke, he was going to make sure everyone had a good time. He found peace and tranquility when he was sitting on the banks, casting out for the next big catch. He will be missed and will forever remain within our hearts.

Kermit passed away into eternal life on April 5, 2023. Although hearts are saddened, cherished memories remain with his devoted wife, Andrea Evette Rogers Brown; four children: Zion Emanuel Brown, Charity Nicole Brown (Fiancé, Juwon Harris), Gabrielle Burnette and Bianca Burnette; his father: Kermit L. Brown; his mother: Flora M. Brown; five siblings: Derrick Brown, Sr., Omar Brown, Taya Brown, Shawn Brown and Derek Parrish; his canine grandson Alie Brown; mother-in-law: Lula Rogers; father-in-law: Vernon Tyson (Gloria); two sisters-in-law: Melanie Rogers and Sabrina Brown and two brothers-in-law: Tre’ Rogers and Chris Tyson. Kermit also leaves a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
