Kathleen Vincent Obituary

"For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." Psalm 84:10.  In the early afternoon hours of Thursday, July 28, 2022, while surrounded by her son and loving family members, Kathleen Vincent, was granted her day in His courts and was able to fulfill her duty of being a doorkeeper in the presence of our God. "Kat", as she was commonly known was born to the Deacon Clarence Vincent, III "Boat" and Mother Susie O. Norman Vincent in Alamance County, North Carolina on September 14, 1944.  She was a proud graduate of the historic Jordan-Sellars High School, completing her high school career with the graduating Class of 1963.

In many ways "Kat" was blessed and one of her greatest blessings was the arrival of her only son, a bouncing baby she named Earl.  She always made sure that "Bull" was taken care of.  She worked for several years with Burlington Industries in order to support her family.  She and "Bull" shared a bond unmatched by any other.  Even in the winter of her life, her son assumed the role of caring for his mother as she had done for him.  She was blessed with three beautiful granddaughters: Shameka, Shaneka and Jalisa, whom she loved dearly.  When she eventually retired from BI, she didn't want become idle, so she began,  a career with the Alamance-Burlington School System as a Crossing Guard with Harvey L. Newiln Elementary School and as in her words, it was  "the best job she ever had".  The joy and laughter of the children were a blessing to her life.

Being blessed she knew where her blessings came from.  She was a devoted member of New Covenant United Holy Church. She served with her whole heart, and truly had a servants heart.  She was an Usher for many years, she offered her voice in praise with the HLC Mass Choir and shared her culinary skills with the Kitchen Committee. Above all she didn't mind giving praise to the One from whom all blessings flow.

She leaves loving memories and a lasting legacy to her devoted son: Elder Earl Williamson (Lisa); three adoring grandchildren: Shameka Harvey (Akeem Hood), Shaneka Jones (Alex Jones) and Jalisa Hariston; nine siblings: Claristine Lockett, Mary Richmond, Clarence Vincent III (Linda), Susie Pinnix (Minister Anthony), Jeffrey Wayne Vincent (Eunice), Edgar Furnell Vincent Sr. (Wilma), Barry Latell Vincent (Tracy), Jackie Holmes and Marshall Graves; four aunts: Geneva Richmond Margaret Vincent, Mary V. Tapp and Shirley S. Vincent as well as a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Annie Mae Holman and Dorothy Ann Barrett.
