John Henry “Pappy” Stephens was born on September 10, 1943, in Caswell County, NC to the late Mr. Harry Stephens Sr. and Mrs. Mittie Mary (Warren, maiden name) Stephens Fuller and departed this life on Wednesday April 17, 2024. He was retired as a highly experienced weaver from Culp Weaving in Graham, NC. He had a strong love for fishing and watching old western movies. Pappy was everyone’s go to mechanic.
John had a strong, fierce love for his surviving 3 children: Donna Stephens (Michael) of Graham, NC; Karen Graves of Burlington, NC; and Jeffrey Stephens Sr. (Aquila) of Pueblo, CO. John is also survived by 6 grandchildren: James Paylor, Michael Walker Jr. (Victoria), Xavier Slade, Queondric Stephens, Jeffrey Stephens Jr. (Maya), Tre’von Stephens, and Ashley Graves, and 6 great-grandchildren: Jayona Paylor, Nyla Paylor, Rayne Douglas, Khristian Walker, Kennedy Slade, and Malcolm Stephens.
He is survived by 10 siblings: Harry Stephens Jr. (Ethel); Mamie Crawford (Javan-Deceased); Shirley Walker (Sterling-Deceased); Nancy Fuller; Sylvia Jones (Fred); Mary Slade; Jean Carol Stephens; Melvin Stephens (Nancy); Edna Stephens; and Frank Fuller Jr.
John was preceded in death by three brothers: William Edward Stephens, James Willard Stephens, and Leroy Wilson Stephens.
