Willie Jean White Cooper was born November 4, 1932 to the late Reverend Willie N. White and the late Dorothy Oliver White in Burlington, North Carolina. Willie Jean spent her early years in the Petersburg Community of Burlington and attended Jordan Sellars High School. She was an active member of Jordan Sellars High School Band where she played drums.
Jean attended Queens Chapel African Methodist Church as a child. Upon her father’s calling to minister Jean experienced Missionary Baptist, as well as African Methodist Church. Jean later relocated, with her kids to the state of New Jersey. Where she worked in the New Jersey school System as an exceptional teacher’s assistant and met and married the late James L. Cooper.
She leaves to cherish her memories Jeanie Crite, Clara Tyus, Doreen (Bill) Coley, Silvera Parker Ford (Doug), William Crite. Her siblings Anthony White (Tammy), Ernestine W. Holman. She has 14 grandchildren, 26 Great grandchildren ; 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as a host pf nieces & nephews other relatives and dear friends.
Jean was preceded in death by 3 children Richard B. Crite, Brenda L. Jones, Walter T. Williams, two siblings Gary White and Virginia C. Johnson.
