James Nathaniel “Nay” Robinson was born on February 1 , 1947. He was the 2nd child of Deacon John “JC” Robinson and Margie Enoch Robinson in Burlington, NC.
Affectionally known as Nay, he graduated from Jordan Sellars High School Class of 1965 in Burlington, NC. Nay played basketball while at Jordan- Sellars. After graduation, he went to National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio for a year to become a butcher. After finishing up butchery school, he came back to North Carolina to work for Curtis Meat Packing Company in Greensboro, NC. He worked at Curtis for many years till his health decline. Nay was known around town as the “Meat Man”.
Nay loves to watch football and basketball games, he loved listening James Brown & any old school music from 60’s 70’s, love talking “junk” to anyone he met, and sitting on front porch drinking coffee.
Nay is survived by a daughter, Dana (Toby) Hurdle of Chester, Va.; two sisters: Vera (Douglas) Mebane of Burlington and Dorothy “Debra” (Rev. Dr. James) Williams of Petersburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Blake & Kaleb of Chester, Va.; three nieces: Shana Mebane of Burlington, Robin Williams, Petersburg, Va, and Brandi Mebane, Greensboro, NC; nephew: Courtland Roberson, Brown Mills, NJ; a beloved aunt, Mildred Enoch Moody as well as host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings Sgt. Larry E. Robinson (Ret.) and Wanda Robinson Headen.
