James Willard Preyer was born to Pearlie Preyer on June 11, 1942 in Alamance County. Without warning or alarm, he passed away into eternal life on January 23, 2020 at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. In 1961, James graduated from the Graham Negro High School. James was originally a member of Hawfields Congregational Church and when Hawfields and Melfield combined, he became a member of Melfield United Church of Christ. During his membership with Hawfields Congregational Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was employed for 45 years with CKS Packaging as a Switcher and it was from here he retired. He had a great love for cars, period. Matter if they were old or new, he just loved cars. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and did all that he could for his family and dear friends.
He leaves loving and lasting memories to his wife of 54 years: The Reverend Gwendolyn Coble Preyer; their only daughter: Bonita Preyer Rogers (Tim); two grandchildren: Bianca Rogers and Donte' Rogers; two great-grandchildren: Jhay'cion Rogers and Kameron Rogers; brother-in-law: Larry Coble (Mary Mebane); a nephew Ty Coble (Gina); two nieces: Marla Preyer and Gail Tinnin as well as other relatives and dear friends.
