On June 15, 1942 James Poteat, Jr. better known as “T-Bird” was born to the late James Poteat, Sr. and Pendora Brown Poteat in Caswell County, North Carolina.
He met and married his Annie C. Harrelson Poteat and to this union four children were born. He was employed with Cone Mills for years and later worked as a Night Security Guard with Copeland Fabrics until retired.
He was member of The New Comers Motorcycle Club, The Guys Club and also helped start the Gremlins Club. Anyone that knew him knew that he loved his motorcycle and longtime friends: Dink, Wesley, James Rufus, Cardell, John Moore and his good friend and neighbor John Lee.
On May 15, 2020 after a long illness, “T-Bird” decided enough was, enough and he was ready to go home. As he would say, “let it go with the flow”.
He is survived by his wife Annie C. Harrelson Poteat of the home; four children: Kenneth Junior Poteat of Michigan; James Alex Poteat of Charlotte, NC; Darius Carl Poteat and Cynthia Diane Poteat both of Burlington, NC; sisters: Berthine Bruce of Maryland and Jeanette Florence of Burlington, NC; a brother: Vernon Poteat (Barbara) of Burlington, NC; two aunts: Pauline Brown of Yanceyville, NC and Lynn Goins of Burlington, NC; 14 grandchildren; 6 great
