James J. King

Mr. James J. King 76, of Burlington, NC transitioned peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. James was born to Lucian King and Nellie Wade King on May 13, 1946 in Alamance County. James met and wed Sylvia Vanhook and from this union two children were born.

His walk with the Lord began at an early age. He attended Miles Chapel Baptist Church in Mebane, NC where he enjoyed singing in the choir. James worked at General Electric for more than twenty six years before his retirement. There was nothing more precious and enjoyable to him than spending time with his family and close friends. During his spare time he loved being outdoors hunting, fishing or spending time in his garden. When he wasn't outdoors he enjoyed shooting pool, playing sweepstakes or watching his favorite college basketball team, the Duke Blue Devils.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Sylvia Vanhook King of the home; son Antonio N. King of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Brigitta S. King of Burlington, NC; brother, Ervin King; sisters, Martha Covington, Rev Nellie Mann, Clara Moore (Herbert), Callie Jones, Rev. Pauline Curry, Rebecca Chernet (Mesfin); one grandchild Taylor G. King Moses (Breona); one great grandchild, Emery Moses along with a host of relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Nellie King; brothers, Walter King "Pete", Russell King and William King.
