James Lee Herbin was born in Altamahaw, NC on December 13, 1936 to the late Wilbert and Mary Alice Herbin. James, affectionately called “Peter or Pete” attended Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC. James worked at Southeastern Chemicals until it went out of business. He then worked for Westcott Buick as a delivery and limo driver. He also worked as a personal driver for the McCormick family. James loved to play cards with his friends, Milton and Annette. He enjoyed watching westerns and soap operas. His favorites being the Young and the Restless, Gunsmoke, Bonanza and most recently Tyler Perry’s The Oval.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of forty-four years, Marietta Herbin; daughters, Karen Herbin-Medina (Rafael) of Burlington, NC and Candi Herbin of Greensboro, NC. Sisters Sadie Kollorest, Louise Wilson of Greensboro, NC, Shirley Miller of Lancaster, SC; brothers, Robert Herbin of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Antoine Herbin, Tempest Davenport, David Lindsey and Cristy Harris. He also has one brother in law that was like a brother to him, William Harris.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Ann Herbin, sons, Rodney Gene Herbin and Anthony Lee Herbin; brothers, Wilbert Herbin, Jr. and David Herbin; sisters, Rosa Lee Neal, Dophne Pinnix and Faye McCollum.
