James David Daye, Jr.

Mr. James David Daye, Jr. was born in Alamance County to Deacon James David, Sr. and Mother Alene Enoch Daye on Wednesday, February 27, 1929.  He was educated in the school system of Alamance County and was a 1949 graduate of Jordan Sellars High School.  Following his graduation he enlisted in to the Unites States Army and was a valiant part of the Korean War.  Following his Honorable Discharge he worked for Alamance County Hospital and Sam Graham Store and he later relocated to New York. 

James David as he was known was a dietician and chef within the healthcare industry.  James David was an avid family man, so much so that he was one of the caregivers for his mother in her final days.  Following his retirement, he relocated to Burlington to be closer to especially his daughter Sabre and his mother.  

As he lived, quietly James David passed into eternal life on March 8, 2020 while he was being cared for by the staff of White Oak Manor.  

He leaves loving and lasting memories to his daughter: Sabre Daye of Burlington, North Carolina; a god- son: Vick D. Daye of Bronx, New York; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister Doretha Daye Byrd of Winston-Salem, North Carolina as well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Hazeline Daye Basnight.
