Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown Chambers, 69, of Graham North Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Jackie Chambers was a kind and loving person and will be missed and remembered by many people who knew her. Jackie, everyone you have left in this world is heartbroken that you are gone, but we are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love you and will miss you terribly until we can meet again.
Jackie was born in Iredell County on January 13, 1954. She graduated from Graham High School in 1972 and attended a year at Alamance Community College. She was the Office Manager for Pure Flow from 1989 to 1996 and saw the company experience explosive growth. She said that the owner told her that when she left it took three people to do what she had done. She and her sister Donna Kerley started a temporary agency, Gate City in 1996 and sold it in 2017. They built a thriving company that was one of the most prominent agencies in Alamance County.
Jackie leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 34 years Willie (Bill) Chambers, her sisters Donna Kerley (Ted), Victoria Kellis (David), and Catherine Perry (Ron); half-sisters Michele Serrano and Dellie Serrano, and half-brothers Paul Serrano and Michael Serrano. Jackie was blessed with stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who are too numerous to mention. She also leaves behind dear friends Dorothy Allen, Rock Perry, Jane Albright, and Ronald McAdams. Jackie had many, many friends in her life who increased her capacity for love and joy.
When Jackie loved someone, she did it with her whole being. She loved people and all humankind. She loved to laugh. She loved dogs. She loved clothes and jewelry and always had everything to match in an outfit. She and her husband Bill enjoyed travelling with some of her favorite places being Seattle, Washington; New Orleans, Louisiana; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Alaska. Her hobbies were fishing, camping, painting, reading, and watching movies.
Jackie wanted to thank everyone for their love and support during her brief illness. She looked forward to each phone call and visit. She said that when she received a visit or phone call, she received so much love. The love of family and friends has made her life meaningful, she said.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jackie’s life at Sharpe Funeral Home, 520 Rosenwald Street, Burlington, NC on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive guests from 11:00 to 12:00 before the service.
