Mr. Isaiah “PeeWee” Benbow was born to the late Mr. Joe Gibson and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Benbow Gibson on October 22, 1933 in South Carolina. He was raised by the late Mr. Boston (Daisy) Benbow his grandparents in Lane, SC until moving to Mebane, NC. He came to North Carolina at a very young age. He departed this earthly world to be with the Lord on July 17, 2020 at his home, after battling cancer for many years. He is now resting in God’s hands (HEAVEN bound!).
Mr. Benbow was educated in the public school systemand retired from Craftique Furniture Company in Mebane, NC. He was a member of True Worship Christian Church. He regularly attended Patillo Christian Congregational Church. He served as an usher at both churches faithfully, always keeping order in God’s house. He was one of the most loving people you could ever meet and never met a stranger. Mr. Benbow loved hisfamily, church, fishing, watching television and wearing fine clothes. He was always sharp.
Mr. Benbow was a very strong father who cared and provided for his six children in union with Patricia TinninBenbow (deceased), Mrs. Shirley (Pete) Crisp, Ms. Dorothy Benbow, Mr. Lawrence (Ree) Benbow of Mebane, NC, Mrs. Mary Ann (Rodney) Graves of Fayetteville, NC, Ms. Elizabeth (deceased Warren)Lambert and Mrs. Wilma (Edgar, Sr) Vincent of Mebane, NC. Mr. Benbow has seven grandchildren, Cheryl, Tiffany, Alicia, Phillip, Edgar, Jr, Corey and Amber; and ten great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Kamiya, Jordan, Akura, Daylin, E’Marion, Mariah, Davin, Camryn and Daxton. And a special niece, Margaret “Molly” Tinnin.
Mr. Benbow leaves behind seven surviving siblings, Mr. Joe C. Gibson of Miami, FL and Mr. Johnny N. Gibson of Hamden, CT, Ms. Ollie Mae Dunmore of Lane, SC, Ms. Margaret Ayers of New York, NY, Ms. Mattie Mae Salters. Mrs. Vernell (Henry) Chandler of Kingstree, SC and Ms. Vernice Jenkins of Lane, SC. Mr. Benbow will be missed dearly by a host of other relatives and friends.
The oldest of ten siblings, Mr. Benbow now joins his love ones, his parents, grandparents, two brothers Mr. George Gibson and Mr. Edward Dukes and two sisters Mrs. Queen Ester Brown and Mrs. Marie Parson.
