Mr. Howard L. Whitsett Jr. of 6101 Blue Lantern Rd. Gibsonville transitioned from labor to reward on June 12, 2021 while at his home.
Mr. Howard was born in Guilford County on January 11, 1942 to Mr. Howard Whitsett, Sr. and Mrs. Clara Wiley Whitsett. He graduated from Sedalia High School in 1960. In 1966 the third day of November he started a career at Container Corp. of America in Greensboro, NC and after a little more than 40 years he retired on March 1, 2007.
Howard was married to the love of his life, Mrs. Peggy Williamson Whitsett and together they built a home of love, serving God together at St. John AME Church where he served as a Trustee, Chairman of the Cemetery Committee, Class Leader and sung in the Male Chorus. Among these things Mr. Howard was also a jack of all trades and could advise you on many more. Howard was always ready for an interesting and long conversation. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
His life and legacy will be forever cherished in the hearts of his children, Beverly W. Ector (James), Rodney Whitsett (Therese) and Mark Whitsett; five grandchildren, Tomeka Leath, Nicholas Dark, Anthony Long (Heather), Rev. Zachary Dark (Jasmine) and Gabrielle Whitsett; three great grandchildren, Giovanni Dark, A'riyah Dark and Greyson Dark along with many other family members and friends.
Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brother, Larry Joel Whitsett.
