Hilda Tyson (Stanfield) Farrington

Deaconess Hilda Tyson Stanfield Farrington, 85 of 770 Candlebark Drive, Jacksonville, FL, died March 4, 2023 at Community Hospice McGraw Center for Caring. She was the daughter of the late Ero Katherine Stanfield and the late Margaret Beatrice Harvey Stanfield and the wife of the late Dallas Lee Farrington. 

Hilda worked for Cone Mills for 25 years. Afterwards, she obtained her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Alamance Community College.  After receiving her license Hilda worked in Student Health at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC for 10 years. 

Deaconess Hilda joyfully served for 30 years at St. Peter’s World Outreach Center in Winston Salem, NC.  There she was a member of the Mother’s Board.  She and her husband also served on the Baptism Ministry and carried communion to the shut-in.  They were also Cell-Ministry leaders. 

In 2014 Hilda began to serve as a member of Lambs Chapel, Haw River, NC. She was a great giver and generous with many.  She ministered to everyone who came to her home.  She enjoyed baking, canning, fishing, and attending Bible Study.  She loved family gatherings and talking to everyone.  Most importantly she loved spending time with her husband and family.  

Hilda is survived by three daughters:  Rita Katherine Farrington of Durham, NC, Anita Farrington Woods (Min. James) of Jacksonville, FL, and Marella Lee Farrington of Greensboro, NC; three sisters:  Sharon Renee Stanfield Thompson of Graham, NC, Diana Lynn Stanfield of Upper Marlboro, MD, Patricia Ann Stanfield of Graham, NC; one brother:  Reverend Jimmy Bernard Stanfield (Olivia) of Gibsonville, NC; and one sister-in-law:  Virgillia (Jill) Farrington, of Burlington, NC; four grandchildren:  Sarah Grace Clark of Durham, NC, Shekinah Glory Clark of Durham, NC, Jonathan Christian Farrington of Jacksonville, FL, and Jeremy David Benjamin Clark of Durham, NC; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by 4 brothers:  James (Pete) Stanfield, Billy Howard Stanfield, Thomas Leon Stanfield, and Wayne Stanley Stanfield; two sisters:  Frances Stanfield Williamson, and Mary Melba Stanfield Pettus.
