Henry Rufus Pennix, Sr. was born to George Washington Pennix and Sarah Fonville Pennix in Alamance County, North Carolina on May 9, 1931. He was a graduate with the 1950 class of Jordan Sellars High School, where he excelled in academics and sports especially the Football team. He had a vibrant career with the North Carolina Department of Corrections as a Parole Officer. Following retirement he was the Facilities Manager for several years for First Baptist Church Apple Street.
He leaves memories to his children: Ricky Pennix (Vanessa), Joretta Pennix Hardcaslte (Alfred "Bernard") and Lori Pennix Jennings Komlavi (Kekeli); six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews other relatives and dear friends.
He now joins his parents and siblings: John Albert Pennix, William Pennix, Melford Pennix, George Pennix and Hazel Pennix Bethal and her husband James L. Bethal
