Harnetha Reaves Doby was born in Alamance County to Dan Reaves and Lossie Beatrice Bailey Norwood Reaves on May 9, 1931. She was a 1951 graduate of Jordan-Sellars High School and later attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as well as the Nursing School at Presbyterian Medical Center, New York. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Presbyterian Medical Center of New York.
She was married to John Jetro Doby and this union was blessed with a son, Laurence. She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir and served with the Missionaries. She was loving and kind. Her smile would warm the heart and bring light to life. She will be dearly missed.
She leaves loving and lasting memories to her son Laurence Doby; four grandchildren: Laurence J. H. Doby, Cecil J. Doby, Jaren D. Doby, Jahmal Stamps; 13 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Daniel Lee Reaves and Gladys Reaves Shaw as well as many nieces and nephews other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her dear husband and loving parents, she now joins her siblings: Matt Norwood, James Reaves, Emily N. Thompson, Lossie N. Lea, Roslyn N. Burnette, Lula R. Watties, Nettie R. Ireland, Virginia R. Enoch and Lillie Mae R. Battle.
