Gladys Gaynell Hayes Core was born on February 1, 1942 to Gladys Hayes Murphy and Donnie Murphy in Alamance County. Following a period of illness, she peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on August 29, 2020 at her home. She was a life-long resident of Alamance County and was married to James E. Core, Jr. The two shared a beautiful bond of love and the union was further blessed with four children. She was employed with Sterling Medical Equipment.
Spiritually, Gaynell was a member of St. Matthews African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a loving and kind person who always went the extra mile for those she loved. She will be greatly missed.
Remembering her with love and devotion are her devoted and caring husband James E. Core, Jr.; four children: Constance C. Holmes (Lynn), Stephen D. Core (Debra), Rayvonn D. Core and Evelyn Y. Burnette (James); five grandchildren: Tameka, Kimberly, Quinston, NaTasha, Tatiana and Jamil; four great-grandchildren; six siblings: Maxine Murphy, Donnie Tate, Elaine Burnette, Maggie Murphy; Earl Murphy and Jean M. Miles (Joe David, Jr.) as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings: Bonnie Murphy, Jodie Murphy Thompson, Cora Norman and Waddell Murphy.
