On September 22nd, 1929, Edward Miles was born to Mr. Lewis Edward Miles and Mrs. Roxie Torain-Miles. Deacon Edward Miles was an Alamance County native, Korean War Veteran, North Carolina A&T graduate, entrepreneur, husband, father, long-time deacon of Miles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
On April 9th, 1955, Edward and Margie Magdalene Willis were joined in holy matrimony. Together, they raised two sons: Danny N. Miles and Irvin E. Miles of Burlington, NC. Over the course of their union, they cultivated over 50 years of love, faith, marriage, public service, and active community and church leadership. For over 40 years Deacon Edward Miles executed an intricate role in the fight for civil rights, justice, and equality in the African American community.
