Earlie Mae (Chrisp) Pettiford

Earlie Mae Chrisp Pettiford was born December 31, 1921 in Orange County to James Henry Chrisp Sr. and Magdeline Blackwell Chrisp. After a conversation with her Lord and Savior, she transitioned into peaceful rest on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. She was a graduate of Pleasant Grove Union High School in following high school she met and married the love of her life, Clarence Lee Pettiford. Following World War II, she and Clarence moved to New York where she had a vibrant career working with kindergarten students within the Greenberg School System.

Upon their retirement in 1997, they returned to North Carolina and settled in Mebane. She enjoyed sewing, fishing with her husband, flowers, shopping with her sisters and spending time with her grandchildren. It goes without mentioning she was a consummate cook and baker. Spiritually,  Earlie Mae was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and she attended Kimes Chapel as well.

She leaves living in lasting memories to her son Latta Pettiford and his wife Ava; two grandchildren: Jonathan Pettiford and Jessica Pettiford; four great-grandchildren: John Carlos "JC" Pettiford, Makiyah Pettiford, Jakiya Pettiford and J'Kyra Pettiford; one brother: Willie Cardell Chrisp and his wife Calvesta; a sister-in-law Bessie B. Crisp as well as many other loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Note:  Some of the Chrisp family spells there last name different than others in the family.  Please be respectful of their wishes.
