Deborah Evelyn Woods Fuller was born on February 14, 1924 in Caswell County, North Carolina to Deacon Philip L. Woods and Adeline Elizabeth Currie Woods. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class of Caswell County Training School and subsequently enrolled into the Winston-Salem Teachers College and graduated in 1945. She was married to Mr. Herbert Randolph Fuller. Mrs. Fuller had a 41 year career with the Caswell County School System. During her tenure, she received her Masters of Science in Elementary Education from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. She also earned a Bachelors Degree in Christian Education from Jacksonville Seminary in 2000, at the age of 76.
Since she was 9 years old, she was a faithful and dedicated member of Allen's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. During her 87 years of membership she was the Recording Secretary for 51 years, Past President of the Missionary Circle, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Instructor, Vacation Bible School Instructor, member of the Gospel Choir and was recognized as Mother of the Church in 2018. Fraternally, she was a charter member of the Allen's Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #529 Prince Hall Affiliate and served in all stations including Past Worthy Matron and was the District #28 District Deputy Grand Lecturer. She was a member and Past President of American Legion Post #210
She leaves in God's care her three children: Donald L. Fuller, DVM, Rev. Dr. A. Oveta Fuller Caldwell (Jerry) and Efram Randolph Fuller, LCDR, USN (Ret.) (Marie); four grandchildren; four great grandchildren: two sisters: Lula Belle Woods Bolding and Thurlia J. Woods Brandon (James) a host of nieces and nephews; in-laws; cousins, students and dear friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Deacon Amos Monroe Woods, Sr., Reverend Hazel DeWitt Woods, Annis P. Woods Ricks, Silina Mae Woods Thompson, Calvenus E. Woods Lipscomb and Nimrod C. Woods.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Philip & Adeline Woods Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 658, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379. Contributions are tax deductible.
The family encourages all who desire to view the remains of Mrs. Deborah Evelyn Woods Fuller to wear a mask in order to protect yourself and others in reducing the spread of the Coronavirus.
