Deacon Weldon Pleas (Doug) Mebane

Mr. Weldon Pleas Mebane departed this life on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. He was a devoted and loving father husband and grandfather. He served as a mason for many years with the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Mason. 

He worked his way up at Atlantic & Pacific Grocery Store to become a manager for many years. After retiring from Atlantic and Pacific Grocery Store he continued to work for Carolina Aluminum Company until his final retirement. His strong faith and love for God was evident in his lifelong work with in his home church Union Chapel United Church of Christ where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years as well as Sunday School Superintendent and Trustee Board Chairman. Weldon was a generous and compassionate man who was always willing to help anyone in need.

Weldon was the son of Nathan Mebane and Zellar Bradshaw Mebane and the husband of Olivia Bernice Graves Mebane all deceased.  

Survivors include two sons: Weldon Forrest Mebane (Angela) and Warren Frederick Mebane and 2 grandchildren Brandon & Cydneè; as several nieces & nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

He now joins his siblings: William Moore, James Mebane, John R. Mebane, Macon Mebane, Willie Mebane, Murray Mebane, Boyd Mebane, Loye Mebane, Nathan Mebane, Savanah Mebane, Beulah Mebane Faucette, Ida M. Harvey and Harriet M. Vincent.
