Deacon Joe David ("JD") Miles, Jr.

Deacon Joe David Miles, Jr. was born September 4, 1937 in Alamance County, North Carolina to the Joe David Miles, Sr. and Annie Lee Chavis Miles.  Following many years of serving the Lord and witnessing to His goodness, he passed away into eternal rest while in the comforts of his home on June 7, 2021.  He was a graduate of Pleasant Grove Union High School and was the owner and operator of J&J Container Services.  Prior to him opening his own business, he was a Supervisor with Cone Mills.  

If you knew Deacon JD Miles, you knew he loved the LORD.  He was like a 747 Jet plane....he was always ready for take off.  He was baptized in his youth at Miles Chapel Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon.  Later in life, he joined Glen Raven First Baptist Church and began serving on the Deacon's Board, sang with the Male Chorus and would do all he could to assist the ministry.  He even had his own Street Ministry, winning souls to Christ.  He  enjoyed riding his motorcycle and story telling...past, present and future.  

He will be forever remembered by his wife: Jean C. McBroom Miles; three children: Shelita Miles, Valjeanne Miles McLean (Larry) and Reverend Joe David Miles, III (Rennee); four grandchildren: Gabrielle Miles, Shethada Miles Pass (Orville, III), Chelsea Miles-Sellars (Terrance) and Mario Moore; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister: Carolyn M. Evans; two god-children: Sonya Walker and Charles Snipes as well as several nieces and nephews other relatives and dear friends.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Lula Hazel Miles Hightower and Mary Lee Miles Love.  

* On Thursday June 10, 2021 from 6 to 7pm the family will be at Sharpe Funeral Home to greet visitors.
