David “Wayne” Vanhook was born, the son of Mr. Willie Mack Vanhook, Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Miles Vanhook Godfrey, on November 25, 1958 in Alamance County, North Carolina. He attended Burlington City Schools. His labor over the years consisted primarily of tile installation, home improvement work and he was a faithful worker for the seafood market in downtown Burlington before it closed. He departed this earthly life on April 23, 2020 at home in Chapel Hill, NC.
Wayne Vanhook, an outspoken man of modest means, enjoyed a life dedicated to being a loving brother, a wise uncle to many nieces and nephews and a loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Douglas Vanhook and many aunts and uncles. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: Four Sisters-Delsie (Dennis) Bryant, Graham, NC, Minister Nellie Vanhook, Denise Vanhook and Reverend Donna Vanhook, all of Burlington; one brother, Reverend Willie Mack (Debra) Vanhook, Jr., Graham; Nieces and Nephews-Terrence “Mona” Rollins, Tavores (Chondra) Vanhook, Ahmod “Marti” Vanhook, Tamica “Rissy” Vanhook, all of Burlington, Jasmine Bryant of Charlotte, NC, Jeremy (Haylee) Vanhook and Faythe Vanhook of Graham; two uncles-Coye (Viola) Miles of Woodbridge, VA and Howard Vaughn of Burlington; one aunt Mary Miles; ten great nieces and nephews, one great grand-nephew and two great grand-nieces; numerous cousins; special friends “Missy” Baldwin and Andrew Royster.
