Charles “Bull” Edward Atwater, 79, passed away July 20, 2021 at home. He was born January 29, 1942 in Alamance County, NC to the late Lonnie and Elizabeth Stone Atwater. He was married to Addie Herbert Atwater for fifty-eight years. He retired after 30 years as a certified first class diesel mechanic from Burlington Transportation, he was team leader. His hobbies were fishing, baseball, gardening and he loved to cook for everyone. He was an entrepreneur in farming. He coached the Saxapahaw Warriors for many years and was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan. He was a member of Saint Matthews AME Church in Saxapahaw, NC. Additionally, Charles was a community advocate for everyone.
Left to cherish his memories are three sons, Rufus Charles Atwater, Douglas Edward Atwater (Rochelle), Tyrone David Atwater (Cynthia). Two daughters, Amelia Faye Kigenyi, and Angelia M. Atwater; siblings Lonnie McCoy Atwater, Jr., and Caroline Atwater Alston (Larry). Grandchildren are Torrence Herbert, Tyler Atwater, Tousant Johnson, and Tevin Yellock. Great-grandchildren are Zandyn, Zayla, Tamran, and Easton. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, George “Jim” Atwater, and William “Mike” Atwater.
