Mr. Bobby Shoffner, 76, of 1224 Collins Dr. transitioned on March 26th, 2020 at his home in Burlington, NC.
Mr. Shoffner was born on January 10th, 1944 in Burlington, NC to Bronnie and Harold Shoffner. He was raised by his grandmother Queenie Lee. He attended Jordan Sellers High School, class of 1962. He married June Leath and they were married for 53 years. They raised 5 children; 4 daughters, Bronnie Shoffner, Charlotte, NC, Stella Shoffner, Burlington, NC, Gina Shoffner (Tyron), Haw River, NC, and Barbara (Charles “Shaikh Jibreel”) Speight, Anaheim, CA, and 1 son, William (Tammi) Shoffner, and 10 grandchildren, Antwaine (Christy) Coble, Geronki (Beth) Coble, Kolby (Brittany) Watkins, Asiyah Speight, Habeebah Speight, Abdullah Speight, AbdurRahman Speight, Jamila “Logan” Tate, Jasilyn Brown, and Briana Wright. As well as 5 great-grandchildren, Chase Coble, Charlee Coble, Braylon Coble, Gracelyn Coble, and Carter Watkins. Mr. Shoffner was known to be a sports fanatic, a love he passed on to his children. In his youth he enjoyed playing recreational softball and later became an umpire. Prior to his retirement he had various supervisor roles and after his retirement spent years working in the school system.
Mr. Shoffner was a member of Augustus Lodge Free Mason Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church services at his home church, Springdale A.M.E. Church where he served as a Steward and was an active member of the church choir.
His family paid this tribute to him, ‘Bobby was a strong, man of God who loved his family dearly and was loved by all those he encountered. He will be greatly missed not only within the family but within his community as well’.
He is survived by his wife, June, five children, Bronnie, William, Stella, Gina, and Barbara, his brother Bob “Chubby” Shoffner of Philadelphia, PA, his brother-in-law Clyde Leath, Jr., and his niece and nephew and a host of relatives, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bronnie and Harold Shoffner, and his brothers Thomas “Weldon” Shoffner, and William Jones.
