Betty Jane (Shanks) Torain

Mrs. Betty Shanks Torain age 89 transitioned from her labor to reward on March 5, 2023, in Greensboro, NC.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Apple St. Burlington, NC.  She was known as the cooking lady at Westly Hall where she worked for many, many years.

 Betty was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Annie Lee and Hubert Humphries, brother, Jerry Humphries and sisters, Annie Holmes, and Georgia Lambert.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Humphries Lee of Greensboro and one son, Melvin Torain (Faye) of Burlington; three sisters, Sheila Humphries, and Fannie Benton both of Greensboro and Averna Richmond Beasley of Charlotte; two brothers, Melvin Humphries (Doris) and Richard Humphries both of Greensboro; 4 grandchildren, Tyrone Humphries, Star Lee Whidbee (John) both of Greensboro, Latresa Torain Bellanger (Derrick) and Rev. Timothy Lee Richmond (Melissa) of Burlington; 16 great grandchildren and 8 great greatgrandchildren.

Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
