Bennie Lee ("Ben") Poteat

Condolences are being shared with the family of Mr. Bennie Lee Poteat better known as "Ben" as they announce his passing.

Mr. Bennie Lee Poteat transitioned from labor to reward on April 7, 2021 at Alamance Health Care Burlington, NC after a brief illness.  Mr. Poteat is the son of Mr. Clyde Thompson and Ms. Maggie McGhee, he was born June 27,1941 in Caswell County, NC.  "Ben" worked many jobs to provide for his family,  just a few were Copeland Fabrics for 25 years, T.A. Truck Stop and "Tommys".  "Ben" was a member of Christian Tabernacle Christian Church, Rosenwald St. Burlington.  Mr. Poteat was a man of few words and no nonsense or fuss.

The life and legacy of Mr. Bennie Lee Poteat will be forever cherished by his sons, Rev. Bennie L. Poteat and James Poteat; daughters, Donna Poteat, Shonda Poteat, Angela Poteat, Jennifer Poteat and Shontral Poteat; brothers, William Beasley (Linda) and Clyde A. Thompson; sisters, Cathy McGhee, Joyce McGhee, Gerldine McGhee and Valerie T. Enoch; 7 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lee Herman Poteat and two brothers, Bobby McGhee and Clinton McGhee.
