Alice Devonia Mebane was born in Alamance County to Manley A. Mebane "Mutt" and Vera Murray Mebane "Sis" on July 30, 1950. "Dee" as she was known was educated in the Alamance School System and graduated in 1968 from Central High School. She worked with the Department of Social Services for more than 20 years prior to her retirement. "Dee" was a devoted and life-long member of Belview Baptist Church where she served with the Missionaries, Ushers Board, Kitchen Committee, was the Poet for the Church, former Youth Sunday School Teacher and many other capacities.
"Dee" was loving and kind and would do all she could while she was able to do so for anyone. She loved her family, her cats and her church in that order.
While "Dee" never married or had any children, she was certainly a God-Mother to her younger cousins Marilyn Michelle and the one she named, LaTonya Denise. "Dee" gave motherly counsel and love to them both.
Remembering her with love and devotion are: her two feline babies: Cee-Cee and Spunky; nephew and niece: Dennis Mebane, Jr. "DJ" and Whitney D. Mebane; her two God-Daughters: Marilyn M. Garner (Pete) and LaTonya D. Garner Woods (Shaun); sister-in-law: Ramona Mebane; an aunt: Norzora Mebane; four best friends: Laura Jean Garner, Shirley H. James (Rev. Walter), Patricia Garner, Ethel Tarpley (Billy); as well as several other dear cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she now joins her brothers: Dennis Mebane, Sr. and Gerald Mebane.
