William Edward Askew II known as “Eddie” was born in Frankfurt, Germany on September 8, 1954, to Army 1st Lt. William Edward and Ella Gertrude Askew.  Although the doctors predicted he would not live long, Eddie lived to celebrate his 63rd birthday. He was special needs child, who spent the majority of his life as a resident of the O’Berry Center in Goldsboro, NC receiving the specialized care he required.

Those who knew him recognized Eddie was a mama’s boy. He loved vanilla wafers, listening to gospel music, taking long car and wheelchair rides, and of course beautiful women. He liked his privacy and loved to sleep - you did not get between him and his sleep.

He was big brother to Vertelia Seda Askew, Dr. Consuella Antoinette Askew, and Adrian Alexander Askew, uncle to two nieces and three nephews.

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. "

-Matthew 11:28-30
