Mr. Rickey Odell Rogers of 331 Woodhaven Dr. Burlington transitioned to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Hospice & Palliative Care Center after a few years of declining health. Rickey was born November 16, 1957 to the late Louise Corbett Rogers and William Edward "Jack" Rogers. Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Essie and Herman Corbett, his paternal grandmother, Fannie Rogers, his brother, Martin Douglas Corbett and longtime friend, Ms. Bonnie Murphy.
Rickey attended Cummings High School and was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ. He worked numerous jobs in Alamance County including, Elon College, Zack's Hotdogs and Long's Plumbing. Rickey enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was well known and liked within the community. He never met a stranger and was often referred to as "Pretty Rickey" by his cancer care team.
He leaves to cherish his memory: fours sisters, Dorothy Corbett Yarborough and Evelyn Corbett both of Burlington, NC, Lesa Wiggins (Kevin) of Baltimore, MD, Denise Matthews (Brian) of Potomac, MD, three brothers, Edward "Jackie" Corbett (Judy) of Burlington, NC, Jack Rogers of Baltimore MD and Terrance Rogers (Teresa) of Baltimore MD; a special cousin, Mildred Moody of Burlington, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
