Mrs. Myrtle Johnson Griffis transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on June 27, 2018. She was born in Alamance County to the late Dewey Johnson and Maude Gant Johnson. She was married to the late Mr. Sandy Kermit Griffis, Sr. She was a talented seamstress for a number of years. She was a devoted member of Queen's Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church serving with the Missionary Society, Board of Trustees, Usher's Board and the Senior Choir. For many years Ms. Myrt' was a fixture at Bell's Department Store.
She leaves loving and lasting memories to her children: Sandy Wayne Griffis, Lester Jackson Griffis (Carrie), Elaine G. Mentzy (Frank), Linda G. Williamson (Jackie), Eula G. Tinnin, Kay W. Griffis, Jacqueline Griffis, Blondine G. McAdams and Vanessa G. Packingham (Graves); daughter-in-law: Ramona F. Griffis; two sisters: Eleanor Johnson Morrow (Ben Sr.) and Maxine Johnson; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Euna Mae G. Oliver and Flora Griffis; best friend: Cora Lee Thompson and God-Daughter: JoAnn Mouzon
She was preceded in death by her son Sandy Kermit Griffis, Jr. and siblings: Billy Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Glenn Johnson, Howard Johnson, Thelma J. Tarpley and Betty J. Lambert.
