Maxine was born on February 10, 1946 to the late Mr. Mack Davis Curry (MD) and Sally Paylor Curry in Alamance County, North Carolina. She was a 1965 graduate of Jordan-Sellars High School and later received her diploma and certification to pursue her passion of caring for others as a Home Healthcare Provider. She was married to Larry Brunson who passed away on September 9, 2016. She and her husband lived for 48 years in Harlem, New York. She was a devoted member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church, Bronx, New York. She was known as the Song Bird of New York. She was highly sought as a Psalmist for many occasions throughout the many boroughs of New York City. Upon her return to North Carolina following her beloved Larry's passing, Maxine reconnected with her home church, Clinton Memorial United Church of Christ.
She leaves loving and lasting memories to her: two sons: Carlton Burnson and Robert Brunson; grandson: Jy'Cere Aaron Brunson; seven surviving sisters: Reverend Patsy Curry Faison (Donald), Frances Curry Coble (Tyson,Jr.), Marie Curry Alston, Tonnie M. Curry, Paulette Curry Watson (Lee), Nellie Curry Harrelson and Diannah Curry; two aunts: Mary Sue Kelly and Audrey Curry; as well as many nieces & nephews, relatives and dear friends.
