James Edward (Jim) Torain

Mr. James Edward Torain “Jim”, 75 of 2579 Freshwater Rd. transitioned on May 9, 2018 at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center.  

Jim was born in Alamance County to Dollie Freeman Torain and Grace Morrow Torain, both deceased.  He was a 1961 graduate of Graham High School and was an engineer with the State of North Carolina.  He was member of Melfield UCC and loved singing with the Male Chorus. He was the devoted husband of Gaynell Alston Torain, who preceded him in death. 

He is survived by his son: Troy Torain; four grandchildren: Maya Torain, Jessica Torain, Jaida Torain, Jaidon Torain; 2 great-grandchildren and his 3 siblings: Johnny Lee Torain “John”, Bettie Torian Thorpe (Maurice) and Willie Jean Torain.  

He was preceded in death by a brother, Broady Torain.
